Youth & Family Programs

Winter Youth Retreats

January 14-16, 2005 - Juniors (4th-6th grade)
January 21-23, 2005 - Jr/Sr High (7th-12th grade)

An annual event for campers in grades 4-12. A winter reunion of summer camp friends and some of our summer staff. Bible Study, games, campfires, worships, friends, and sun in the snow.

Youthfest

April 22-24, 2005

The Southwestern PA Synod's youth gathering held at Lutherlyn. A weekend of fun, growth, music, worship, and friends. Contact the Southwest Synod office for details: (412)367-8222.

Lutherlyn Work Days

Junior High youth through adults: Come help us prepare for both winter and summer. Individuals, families, and groups are invited.

Open House / Earth Day Celebration

May 1, 2005

Preview our summer programs. Tour camp. Take a nature hike and visit Terra Dei Homestead. Enjoy an "all you care to eat" pancake and sausage feast. Camp-age youth may participate in games to win prizes including four half camperships for Summer Camp 2005.

SummerFest

July 3, 2005

This annual Lutherlyn Giant Church Picnic offers a day filled with worship, music, recreation, games, pony rides, hayrides, swimming, canoeing, and a huge vesper campfire at dusk.

Fathers and Sons Day

September 3, 2005

Fathers and Sons Day is for fathers and sons of all ages; for fathers who "borrow" sons and for sons who "borrow" fathers. Every man and boy is welcome. There is something for everyone. Enough to help you build your relationship and enough to build a memory.

Hike-A-Thon / Autumn Festival

October 8, 2005

Hike and enjoy acres of wooded hills, streams, lakes, flora and fauna. It's a great way to be close to nature by hiking through God's glorious creation and, at the same time raise money for Lutherlyn's campeship program. Also, enjoy hay rides, delicious fall foods, and various autumn activities at Lutherlyn's first Autumn Festial!

The Purple Crayon: Homeschool Education Program

March 31, April 1, 7, 14, 21, 28, 2005
September 8, 15, 22, 29, October 6, 2005

Hands-on, experiential homeschool education classes for students in grades 4-12. A different three hour educational adventure each Friday in the spring and each Thursday in the Fall.

Advent Retreat

December 2-4, 2005

Join us and get the Advent and Christmas seasons off to a great start! We will be learning about Advent, making Advent wreaths, singing carols, sharing an Agape meal, and taking time to focus on the true reason for the season.

Saturday Safaris are a great way to spend a Saturday morning! They are designed for families, individuals, and groups. The only requirement is that there is an adult responsible for all children.

Camp Ambassador Training Event

February 4-5, 2005

Time to update and educate our Ambassadors on the developments and new programs of Lutherlyn. Campers from congregations whose Ambassadors attend will receive a $5 discount off of their summer camp fee.

Youth Leadership Development Institute (YLDI)

March 4-6, 2005

A retreat for Adult leaders of youth. It's a weekend working retreat that focuses on how to build and rebuild ministries to youth. It also shows you how you can put more PIZZAZZ into a healthy youth ministry. It's hands on, take home, and use it practical help.

A Women's Retreat - A journey toward awarenss and a deeper understanding of yourself, your faith, your relationships, and your culture. The Journey centers around ideas of wholeness, the nature of relationships, fulfillment, and the central importance of our relationship with God.

Lutherlyn Golf Outing

July 11, 2005

The 17th annual Lutherlyn Golf Outing will be held at beautiful Suncrest Golf Course in Butler, PA. This all-day event includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner, and door prizes. Funds raised will benefit the Lutherlyn Campership Fund.

Parish Secretary's Day

October 4, 2005

A day for secretaries to get together for inspiration, conversation and rejuvenation. Devotions, a Keynote Speaker, networking time, camp tours, and a delicious lunch are all included. Come and see how we supply "fresh elastic for overstretched secretaries."

Barn Spring Cleaning

Designed to provide a new way for homeschooled students to meet physical education requirements. Morning and afternoon classes are available.

AAHS Riding Instructor Certification Clinic

May 23-28, 2005

A clinic leading to certification through the American Association for Horsemanship Safety. Open to anyone with more than casual interest in horsemanship and riding safety.

Horsemanship Class

October 1, 2005

Designed for anyone interested in learning more about horses, new horse owners, or anyone who is considering becoming a horse owner. Come learn more about the horse world, how to care for a horse, and what costs are involved in owning a horse.

Trail Ride Program

September 10, 2005

This includes a riding lesson, learning how to groom and get a horse ready to ride, safety instructions, and a one hour trail ride.

 

Adventure Programs

The Lutherlyn Adventure Program offers challenges that draw people closer together, and help them step out of their comfort zones within a supportive Christian context. Programs begin with devotions and conclude with discussions connecting the experience to faith and personal growth. Adventure Programs are available 7 days a week for groups of six or more by reservation.

Guided Rock Climbing...at McConnell's Mill State Park

Lutherlyn provides excellent guides and all equipment. Participants will grow in mutual trust and self-confidence as they encourage and support each other in the challenges that rock climbing offers. (age 13+)

Mountain Biking

This four hour program includes basic maintainance, riding techniques, and guided biking on Lutherlyn's trails or at Moraine State Park. (age 13+)

Lake Canoeing

Learn a variety of strokes, basic canoe handling, and rescue techniques. Then explore beautiful Lake Authur at Moraine State Park. Trip includes a lunch on the lake. (age 13+)

Group Challenge Course

A series of life-size physical and mental puzzles that challenge groups to think and work as a team. Programs are tailored to the goals of your group. (age 10+)

Lutherlyn's facilities are available throughout the year for retreats and conferences. Thousands of people enjoy Lutherlyn's 640 acre site each year along with the following options:
